Uncle Buck

It won’t come as a surprise, but ABC has decided to cancel Uncle Buck. The show aired its 8-episode first season over 4 weeks with double episodes. That sounds an awful lot like a burn-off, so even though it got not-all-that-bad ratings, this cancellation was long coming.

Series star James Lesure announced the news via Twitter:

Based on the hit movie of the same name, the show followed Uncle Buck (Mike Epps), a fun-loving but irresponsible guy who needed a job and a place to stay. His brother (Lesure) and sister-in-law needed some help around the house, prompting Buck to move in and become their nanny.

Uncle Buck joins the dozens of other remakes that turned out to be a failure this season, including Minority Report, The Muppets, Limitless, and Rush Hour. What’s on next season’s schedule, you ask? Lethal Weapon, The Exorcist, MacGyver, and many more remakes..
