Summary

Speechless revolves around Maya DiMeo (Minnie Driver), a mother who won’t take no for an answer when it comes to her teenage son JJ (Micah Fowler) with cerebral palsy. As a result of his disability, he is unable to speak, is wheelchair-bound and has a general lack of control over his muscles. It is therefore difficult to get him into a good school with the right facilities, even though, as his mom calls it, “he’s all there upstairs”. She is a little obsessed with this uphill battle, sometimes forgetting the needs of her other two children (Mason Cook and Kyla Kenedy).
