The upcoming series Unsolved is an anthology series that takes a look at famous unsolved crimes. The series’ first season will center on the police investigations following the controversial murders of Tupac and The Notorious B.I.G., two of the most legendary rappers.

This storyline is based on Greg Kading’s book Murder Rap: The Untold Story of the Biggie Smalls & Tupac Shakur Murder Investigations. First-time actor Wavyy Jonez will be portraying Christopher Wallace, better known as The Notorious B.I.G.. New actor Marcc Rose will play Tupac Shakur. The detectives on the case, Greg Kading and Russell Poole are portrayed by Josh Duhamel (Westworld) and Jimmi Simpson (Las Vegas).

In the past years, many dramas based on real events have started to pop up. Some of those have failed miserably, but others have managed to succeed. The murders of Tupac and The Notorious B.I.G. are very high-profile and it’s likely that this alone will initially attract many viewers. However, from that synopsis and the trailer I find it hard to judge whether the show will be captivating enough to stay interesting. Clearly, there is some potential, even for upcoming seasons, as there are many unsolved cases worth covering.

Unsolved premieres on Tuesday, February 27th at 10/9c.
