ABC’s 10-episode limited summer series Somewhere Between is based on a Korean series called God’s Gift: 14 Days. In God’s Gift: 14 Days a woman travels back in time to prevent the kidnapping and murder of her child. In Somewhere Between, news producer Laura Price (Paula Patton, Hitch) knows her daughter is going to be murdered by a serial killer. She knows this because it already happened. But then, just like in God’s Gift: 14 Days, a mysterious event sends her back in time to prevent it from happening again.

For now, ABC has only released a short promo which doesn’t really tell much about the series. It does seem like the series is packed full of action, although action-filled trailers and promos rarely belong to actual action-filled series. Still, I’m interested in the series because I want to know very badly what Laura will do to keep her daughter safe. Me? I would take my kid, get on a plane to the other end of the world far, far away from the killer, and wait it out. But I’m sure there’s some reason why that’s absolutely not an option, something about not being able to outrun fate.

As a summer series, Somewhere Between has limited competition scheduling-wise. Besides local programming, the series will compete with NBC’s World Of Dance, the competitive reality TV series about dancing. Since Somewhere Between is a limited series, it doesn’t really matter anyways, although the network will undoubtedly renew it if the ratings are through the roof (well, for a summer series).

Somewhere Between has an uncertain fate.
