HBO is going for a pretty different approach with its upcoming series Mosaic. In addition to airing on TV on a few consecutive nights, the murder mystery drama can be enjoyed as an interactive show. Via an app, viewers can choose from which point of view to watch certain parts of the show which can lead to different outcomes. The televised version does not have this option but will have largely the same content.

HBO has been very limited with the information it has revealed about the show. In short, Mosaic follows Eric Neill (Frederick Weller, In Plain Sight) who four years ago tried to seduce and defraud children’s author Olivia Lake (Sharon Stone, Agent X) at the behest of some associates of his. Now, Eric is in prison for murdering Olivia. Meanwhile, Eric’s sister Petra (Jennifer Ferrin, As The World Turns) begins to reinvestigate what exactly happened four years ago.

Unsurprisingly, the trailer above also reveals very little extra information. Nonetheless, with the special interactive element, Mosaic will certainly become an experience. For those that prefer just watching on TV it looks like the show has enough to offer as well. The series is well thought through, making it likely the show will be entertaining to watch. So, as long as you’re into a good murder mystery, Mosaic is the show for you.

Mosaic premieres on Monday, January 22nd at 8/7c.
