SMILF has been renewed for a second season, Showtime has announced. Production will begin in 2018 and season two is expected to premiere in the fall.

The show premiered as the highest-rating new Showtime comedy since 2012, and is now averaging over 4 million viewers weekly.

SMILF centers on Bridgette (Frankie Shaw), a twentysomething from the south side of Boston. Her obligations as a young single mother collide with her desires for relationships, sex, and a career. Rosie O’Donnell co-stars as Bridgette’s mother Tutu, a woman who is completely oblivious to social convention. Connie Britton recurs as Bridgette’s boss.

SMILF airs its first season finale on New Years Eve, on December 31st at 10/9c. The finale will be available online and On Demand from December 29th.
