In an unsurprising-yet-surprising move, FOX has renewed supernatural seriesĀ The X-Files for an eleventh season.

After the 6-episode revival that aired last year after a 14-year absence, it was announced that all parties were intent on bringing the show back for another season, yet no timeline could be set because of conflicting schedules of key people. Now apparently a fitting time has been determined, as it was reported that creator Chris Carter as well as stars Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny will be back.

Season 11, or as FOX calls it ‘the event series’, will consist of 10 episodes, which is almost double the amount of season 10. It will air somewhere during the 2017-18 season, and production is expected to start this summer.
