CBS Predictions: Ransom and Elementary Cancelled

By on April 16, 2017

Other recent Renewals and Cancellations on CBS:

Let’s take a look at some numbers again. Last year, CBS had 17 dramas on the air; the same amount as this year. Last year, CBS renewed 11 of those dramas, and currently, CBS has 10 dramas renewed for next year. Looking at those numbers one would not expect CBS to renew any more series, save maybe one. Even though there might still be room on next year’s schedule, the fact that CBS didn’t renew them along with the rest, means the ones left out are in trouble.

Code Black is the only show that still has a shot at a renewal, but for both Elementary and Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders, it’s almost game over. The only interesting drama show left, in terms of renewal chances, is Ransom. For years, no broadcast network dared to air original scripted programming on Saturday nights, unless it was with the intention to burn off the remaining episodes. With Ransom is CBS the first to try this and, as expected, its ratings are abysmal. Still, the show is a cheap co-production, so it’s really hard to judge whether CBS is making enough money off of it. Probably not, but you never know.
