After announcing the straight-to-series order for crime dramedy The Rookie starring Castle‘s Nathan Fillion in late October, ABC has now also signed Castle creators Terri Edda Miller and Andrew W. Marlowe up for a new series. The project has been in development for almost two years.

The alphabet network has handed a straight-to-series order to the duo for a light detective procedural titled Take Two. The show — of which the premise is very similar to that of shortlived FOX comedy The Grinder — revolves around Ella (Rachel Bilson, Hart Of Dixie), the former star of a hit cop series who is fresh out of rehab. She is determined to restart her career and, as a way of doing research for a potential comeback role, she convinces private investigator Eddie (Eddie Cibrian, CSI: Miami) to allow her to shadow him. As a lone wolf, he resents his babysitting gig, but Ella proves herself surprisingly valuable.
