A new drama series has landed at Starz. The half-hour drama is titled Sweetbitter, and it is based on Stephanie Danler’s novel of the same name. The series is being developed by Danler and Stu Zicherman (The Americans). Six episodes have been ordered for the first season.

Sweetbitter revolves around Tess, a 22-year-old woman who arrives in New York and quickly lands a job at a celebrated Unioun Square restaurant. The series follows her as she learns the chaotic, punishing, privileged life of a backwaiter, on duty and off.

Casting for Sweetbitter is still underway, and a prospective air date has not been announced yet.
